What is EIT?
The European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) is an EU body created by the European Union in 2008 to strengthen Europe’s ability to innovate. The EIT is an integral part of Horizon 2020, the EU’s Framework Programme for Research and Innovation.
What is EIT Food?
EIT Food is a pan-European consortium that focuses on entrepreneurship and innovation in the food sector. The members of the EIT Food community are world-class players in the international food domain: over 50 partners from leading businesses, research centres and universities across 13 countries. To reach out to the countries not participating in the consortium, where innovation capacity is moderate or modest, EIT has set up Regional Innovation Scheme (RIS).
UCT Prague as EIT Food Hub
The RIS is implemented via formalised collaboration with a local entity functioning as an EIT Hub, an ‘interaction point’ between EIT Food and local actors which helps disseminate the knowledge and know-how of the EIT Community.
UCT Prague was selected to perform the role of EIT Food Hub in 2018 and again for the period 2019-2020.
